Working with street children and their families gives many new aspects to life. I want to share their stories – so people can see them in new understanding and be able to make change in their lives.
For somehow when I now work with the stories of mothers to the children, I came to think about Edith Piaf. The legend tells that she was born “under a gaslight on the night streets of Paris to a 17-year-old mother. Her Father was an acrobat, performing the streets of Paris, her Mother a street singer with no care for her new-born child. Edith was abandoned and sent to grandmother who was the mother of a brothel. The prostitutes took care of her. Edith Piaf became one the greatest French singer in history.
I took this photo during the 2 days photo workshop with Stuart Holden in Kyiv 18-19.6.2011 and it will be used for a slide – sound scape presentation “Vodka and bread.” A story about the mothers and street children.
It’s good to have some days off from everyday work, the creativity can flow.
With love to God
Mirjam
